Farm and Food Book Week 2023

Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom (MAITC) is excited to host our third annual Minnesota Farm and Food Book Week. This week provides classrooms across the state of Minnesota the opportunity to see and hear agriculture-themed book readings by special guest readers. Classrooms are encouraged to join throughout the February 21-24, 2023 as farming and food readings occur throughout each day.

'Book Week' Guest Reader Becomes Award Winning

At the 2023 American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) Annual Convention, Shannon Anderson, author of "I Love Strawberries" was awarded the AFBF Book of the Year! Her "I Love Strawberries" book was just recently listed as the Good Housekeeping 2022 Best Kids' Book as well. Shannon is no stranger to the Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom team. During the Farm to School Book Week in October 2022, she was a featured reader and read her "I Love Strawberries" book.

Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation Executive Director, Ann Marie Ward, and Resource Specialist, Sarah Kuschel, [pictured above] had the opportunity to visit with Shannon and express appreciation for her work with books that focus on agricultural literacy. Her "I Love Strawberries" book inspires all ages to grow something; a true testament to her story and connected to agriculture.

As we gear up to prepare for Farm and Food Book Week, we look forward to featuring more agriculture-themed book readings by many special guests! Although Shannon will not be a guest reader this time around, we thank her for the work she has done with agriculture literacy. More details about the upcoming Farm and Food Book Week will be available soon here.
