Farmers are experts at stepping up to the plate to embrace new advancements in technology in the name of producing quality food, fiber, and fuel for the world. This tour will highlight many of the ways in which Minnesota farmers utilize technology to improve the efficiency and sustainability of their farming practices. While touring Forest-Lawn Holsteins, you will learn how their robotic milking system fosters animal care while improving the efficiency of their operation. You will also explore biotechnology and learn about how it has improved overall production while simultaneously promoting sustainability in farming practices and discover how advancements in electronic and data tracking technology have changed the way in which row crop farmers make critical decisions on their farms. Plus, you will have the opportunity to try out flying a drone! The day will end with resources and inspiration to bring back the importance of STEM skills in Agriculture to your classrooms.
